Smokers' Helpline Update!

Smokers’ Helpline has undergone a brand redevelopment. Through their new brand enhancements, they will continue to communicate to Ontarians that they can offer free, confidential and non-judgmental service to guide and support them as they quit tobacco use.

This section of the web site is geared towards health professionals interested in Leave The Pack Behind.

Funded by the Government of Ontario (Smoke Free Ontario) and by Health Canada (Tobacco Control Programme), Leave The Pack Behind is a comprehensive, age-tailored, tobacco control initiative for young adults on post-secondary campuses.

Leave The Pack Behind assists occasional and regular smokers to quit smoking; protects non-smokers from second-hand smoke; prevents students from starting to smoke; and exposes tobacco industry tactics that keep people hooked on its deadly products.

Leave The Pack Behind uses a peer-to-peer approach. A small team of students from each campus runs the initiative under the supervision of a college/university staff member (usually a Nurse or Health Educator from the campus health clinic). Because conceptualization, content and design of most LTPB resources, programs, and services originate with post-secondary students, Leave The Pack Behind is highly appealing to the target audience.
